Roy Charles Ford

Born in 1926, he joined his father's Regiment in 1945 and served for twenty-two years before retiring as the last-but-one Regimental Sergeant Major of the 1st Battalion DLI. He served in India, Burma, Malaya, Hong-King, Singapore, Cyprus, Berlin and at home. In 1966, he served in the Borneo campaign and was Mentioned in Despatches.
Following his retirement from the Regular Army, he became Quartermaster of the Sussex Army Cadet Force, until he finally retired as a Captain in 1988. He then devoted himself to the British Legion becoming Sussex County Chairman.
Roy Ford died in 2003.
